 In John G. Shedd Aquarium you can see more than 70 species of animals inhabit this reef, including sharks, stingrays, eels and a host of other reef fishes, colorful artificial corals and sponges, incredible animals, and exciting new interactive features that teach guests about the 250 inhabitants of the reef.
Five times daily, a diver plunges into the exhibit to hand-feed the animals collection of creatures and talk to guests through an underwater microphone about the different animals and the fragile environment they inhabit.
Soundings Restaurant and the Oceanarium's outdoor terrace offer a breathtaking view of Chicago's skyline, Grant Park, Monroe Harbor, Navy Pier and Lake Michigan and stop by the shop.
Open 7 days a week from June to August from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., from September to May from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ticket Prices; Adults:
$24.95, Children (3-11) $17.95. Children 2 and under: FREE. You can purchase tickets in advance from Ticketmaster to obtain the entry date and time of your choice and to avoid waiting in line at Shedd Aquarium. Call, charge by phone at 312-559-0200.
Residents of the city of Chicago receive a $3 discount on admission
every day, except Community Discount Days. Must present valid ID. 2009 Community
Discount Weeks are Oct. 4 through 9.
2009 Community Discount Days are on the following dates for Mondays and Tuesdays
in September (21, 22, 28 and 29) October (12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27) and
November (2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, and 30).
